DESCRIPTION
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin. Developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it was designed to combine the immune-boosting properties of tuftsin with a Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide sequence at its C-terminus to enhance metabolic stability. Research focuses on its unique "anxiolytic-nootropic" profile, where it appears to reduce anxiety and emotional stress while simultaneously improving executive functions such as learning and memory. Unlike traditional benzodiazepines, Selank is studied for its ability to provide these effects without causing muscle relaxation, withdrawal, or sedative-hypnotic side effects.
