DESCRIPTION
Glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide composed of the amino acids L-glutamate, L-cysteine, and glycine. It is often referred to as the "master antioxidant" because it is found in high concentrations in nearly every cell of the human body. Its primary biological role involves maintaining the redox state of cells, protecting them from oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) and free radicals. In clinical and laboratory research, it is studied for its ability to conjugate with toxins in the liver, making them water-soluble for excretion.
