GENERAL DESCRIPTION

KPV is a potent naturally occurring tripeptide consisting of the amino acids Lysine, Proline, and Valine. It is a C-terminal fragment derived from the alpha-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone (alpha-MSH). Unlike its parent molecule, KPV does not induce skin pigmentation, making it a highly specific subject for research into anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial pathways without hormonal side effects.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Action: Research indicates KPV functions by entering cells and inactivating the NF-kappaB signaling pathway, which is a primary driver of chronic inflammation.

  • Gastrointestinal Support: Studies focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) suggest that KPV can be transported into the gut via the PepT1 transporter, potentially reducing colonic inflammation and restoring the mucosal barrier.

  • Dermatological Applications: In vitro and in vivo studies have explored its ability to reduce redness, swelling, and itching associated with conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

  • Anti-Microbial Activity: The peptide has shown the ability to disrupt the cell walls of certain pathogens, including bacteria and fungi like Candida albicans.
