Epitalon (also known as Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide—a short chain of four amino acids—that was developed based on a natural peptide found in the pineal gland. It is widely considered one of the most significant discoveries in longevity research due to its unique ability to interact with the body’s aging "clock."
How it Works
Epitalon is primarily researched for its role as a Telomerase Activator. Its mechanisms include:
-
Telomere Maintenance: Every time a cell divides, the protective caps on the ends of our DNA (telomeres) shorten. Epitalon stimulates the enzyme telomerase, which helps repair and lengthen these caps, potentially allowing cells to divide many more times than they naturally would.
-
Pineal Gland Support: It helps rejuvenate the pineal gland, restoring the natural secretion of melatonin. This is critical because melatonin is a master antioxidant and the primary regulator of our sleep-wake cycles.
-
Gene Expression Regulation: Research suggests it can "unlock" certain genes that have been silenced by age, restoring a more youthful pattern of protein synthesis within the body.
Research Findings
-
Longevity and Lifespan: Extensive Russian clinical trials and animal studies have shown that Epitalon can significantly increase maximum lifespan and reduce the rate of age-related mortality.
-
Immune System Enhancement: Studies indicate it can help restore T-cell function and improve the body's resistance to infection, particularly in aging subjects where the immune system naturally begins to decline.
-
Cancer Suppression: Preclinical research has observed that Epitalon may decrease the incidence of spontaneous tumors and inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells by stabilizing DNA.
-
Endocrine Balance: It has been shown to normalize carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and improve the function of the thyroid gland, which often becomes sluggish with age.
Reconstitution & Dosing Protocol
To prepare a 10mg vial of Epitalon, follow these instructions for a standard research cycle.
1. Preparation (Reconstitution)
-
Gently inject 2ml of Bacteriostatic Water into your 10mg vial of Epitalon.
-
Let the water run slowly down the side of the glass to avoid damaging the peptide.
-
Do not shake the vial; gently swirl it until the powder is completely dissolved and the liquid is clear.
-
Once mixed, keep the vial in the refrigerator at all times.
2. The Dosing Method (Subcutaneous Injection)
-
Frequency: Inject once daily for a period of 10 to 20 days. This is typically done as a "cycle" twice per year.
-
Administration: Use a standard U-100 insulin syringe. Inject into the fatty tissue (stomach or thigh).
The Protocol:
-
Daily Dose: Draw the liquid to the 10 unit mark on your insulin syringe and inject once daily. (This equals 500mcg).
-
Alternative High-Dose Research Protocol: Some research protocols utilize a higher dose of 1mg daily. To do this, draw the liquid to the 20 unit mark on your insulin syringe and inject once daily.
